Curling Manager

The St. Catharines Golf & Country Club is looking for a qualified Curling Manager to join our team for the 2017/2018 curling season. 

The Curling Manager reports to the General Manager and is responsible for the day to day operations and the future development and growth of the Club’s curling program. The successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills, and a strong marketing background with a solid knowledge of social media applications.

We are looking to fill the Curling Manager position by July, which will be a seasonal position in the first year for approximately 10 months. Our salary and benefit package are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. General Statement
  • Provide aquatic instruction to youth and/or adults of varied ages
  • Provide a safe environment to all bathers in the pool area
  • Current Lifesaving qualifications to instruct (Lifesaving Society) and guard
  • Advanced aquatic courses certification an asset
  • Pool Operators certification an asset
  • Minimum one (1) year guarding/instructing experience
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to function independently and in teamwork situations
  • Excellent communication and public relation skills
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to take on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain physical fitness to meet National Lifeguard standards
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and abide by the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Vulnerable Sector search will be required

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide on deck instruction and guarding
  • Adhere and follow sun safety tips and rules
  • Attend all mandatory facility staff trainings
  • Assist with facility promotion of aquatic programs
  • Record pool tests, chemical checks, and bather attendance as required while on duty
  • Be aware of safe work practices relation to job responsibilities and have a basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as it related to the work environment 
  • Maintains safety for all bathers on deck and in water 
  • Maintains a clean environment in and around the aquatic area
  • Facilitate birthday party groups and provide entertaining activities and aquatic supervision
  • Conducts aquatic emergency procedures as required and other procedures for pool fouling’s etc. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Aquatics Supervisor or General Manager
